A Marietta, PA Senior Session in the Cherry Blossoms | Jackson | April 13, 2026
Home. Jackson wanted his senior session to capture where he came from before he heads out on his own. We booked his session a year in advance to make sure Jackson got on my calendar before he graduated, but having the iconic Marietta cherry blossoms for the shoot… that part, only Mother Nature could control. He was scheduled for Saturday, the 11th. On that day, the blossoms were peaking, but they hadn’t fully opened yet. So, we postponed until Monday with all of our fingers and toes crossed. If you scroll down, you’ll see it was the right decision. Mother Nature blessed us with beautiful weather and the perfectly popped cherry blossoms for Jackson and his family. They are lucky enough to live right on Front Street, where hundreds of people from miles around come for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.
Jackson is a fisherman and a member of the Marietta Boat Club, so that was location number two. I had never been there before and was pleased to discover that it is literally right across the street from their house. They were able to walk to all the locations we used. How amazing is that?
As far as I know, most photographers only allow photos of the senior during a senior shoot. To me, all shoots are, “You have me for an hour.” So, if your senior doesn’t want to spend a full hour on a shoot alone, I’m happy to also take family photos. This one was especially meaningful for two reasons: 1. I’ve known Jackson’s mom, Ann, since high school— we graduated together! And, 2. I’ve been photographing this family since Jackson and his older brother, Braiden, were little guys goofing around, climbing, and jumping out of those cherry blossom trees! I also had the privilege of shooting Braiden’s senior portraits!
Jackson,
To be honest, I wondered if you would wear a suit jacket to your senior session, like you always did when you were little. I’ve always loved that about you. But, of course, you’ve changed since that little boy I used to photograph. You’ve grown into an amazing man. It’s clear your parents are very proud of you. I know he may not admit it, but Braiden is proud of you, too. You can see it in his eyes. Thanks for letting me take a few pictures of you two together, and for letting your mom do three cheek-kissing shots. As a mom of older boys myself, I can tell you that we cherish those moments when we get to show our love for you. I appreciate you going along with every idea I had for you on this shoot. I know it can feel a little awkward to be the center of attention during most of a photo session, especially when your whole family is watching.
Take your time figuring out what you want to do with this wonderful life you’ve been given. There’s plenty of time for everything to unfold naturally. Enjoy Montana. I’ve heard the fishing there is ah-mazing! And, as always, I hope you love this sample of your senior photos. Many more to come!
Hugs,
Megan
