A Tented West Chester Wedding | Lisa + Derrick | June 20, 2026

Lisa and Derrick were married at Lisa’s parents’ house in West Chester on Saturday, the day before Father’s Day. It was only fitting since she shares a special bond with her father. After an emotional Father-Daughter and Mother-Son dance, Jack took the mic and addressed the guests gathered under the flag-topped white tent: “If you don’t know me, well, I’m a crier…”

The guests, especially his daughter Lisa, responded with rolls of laughter, which lightened the sweet speech he gave to his little girl and her new husband. He could have only given her away to the best of men. Derrick was finally that man for her. They both waited a long time for this day—the perfect match, the love of a lifetime. Some things are truly worth waiting for. The love these two share is romantic and playful. This beautiful gathering was the perfect reflection of them as a couple. While relaxed and casual, every detail was carefully planned and placed. As Dre said in her speech, they have the Schliech effect on everyone around them, and we are all so very lucky to know and be part of their lives and their story.

I met Lisa and Derrick shortly after they started dating, when Lisa was a bridesmaid in her friend Maureen’s wedding early last year. It’s been fun to photograph them as a couple throughout their relationship. From that day and their engagement session filled with pizza and wine at a special park, to now their wedding day, I feel like I’m part of their story. It was an added bonus to see Maureen and Terrell at the wedding, too! Their entire wedding, from their engagement session and bachelorette party to the rehearsal dinner and the big day itself, had a pizza theme. They brought an actual hot pizza in a custom-made pizza box for their photos during the engagement session. Their caterer was Common Good Pizza. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was totally blown away and impressed by the presentation. There was a special truck with a built-in brick oven on the side, where they fired pizza after pizza in a walk-up, all-you-can-eat style. I grabbed two pieces on my way out, and wow, they were incredible.

I believe all the guests enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, and the “beer boat” was especially ooh- and ahed over. *See photos below.

Lisa and Derrick,

Going through year after year, struggling to find true love and wondering if it will ever happen for you is so hard. But, as you now know, if you hadn’t gone through everything you did, you wouldn’t be able to appreciate each other as much as you both deserve. I absolutely adore you two. You have this way of making everyone feel special—again, the Schleich effect. And I’m so very happy for you. I hope you love this little sample of photos from your tented wedding at home in West Chester. And because I know how hard it is to wait, there will be a surprise in your inbox later today. So, don’t forget to check it!

Hugs,

Megan
