A Fall Marsh Creek State Park Engagement Session | Lisa + Derrick | November 1, 2025
With Derrick in step beside her, carrying “all the things” after we finished up the pizza and wine-themed part of Lisa and Derrick’s engagement session at Marsh Creek State Park on Saturday, Lisa shared a sweet piece of her story. She pointed to the spot where we had just been and said, “Back when I was in nursing school, I would come here and sit on that bench or on the hill and study for hours. I used to dream of having my engagement session here once I found the right guy.” That made me smile. I could picture it—Lisa sitting there, the breeze in her hair, gazing across the water, wondering if she would ever find the right person for her. So, once everything was safely packed in their car, I took them back to that bench and made sure we got some photos on it.
It’s difficult to put into words the light and joy that shone from Lisa and Derrick during their engagement shoot. Both of them had waited far too long to find each other. They realized, before heading out for their session, that it had been exactly a year since they matched on their dating app. And, as they say, the rest is history!
I met them at a wedding earlier this year for Maureen and Terrell at River House at Odettes. Lisa was part of the wedding party. She said Maureen has been a special friend in her life ever since they first met in nursing school. I’m so glad they did because I’m so glad she met me at that wedding, and I got to have the time of my life giving them the fall engagement session of their dreams.
These two are getting married at a private estate in West Chester next June. Saying I’m excited to meet all their people (and see Mo and Terrell again) is an understatement! Just like for their engagement session, they want their wedding day to be utterly them—comfortable, fun, and full of joy and laughter. I’m here for it!
Lisa and Derrick, oh my word. I had literally the best time with you two on Saturday. Your energy is unmatched. Thank you for your beautiful spirits and fun personalities. I will never forget our little pizza party in the park! Lisa, I’m so glad it was your dream to have your engagement session at Marsh Creek State Park; it was absolute perfection. I hope you love the little sample of photos from your fun fall engagement shoot below. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there will be a surprise in your inbox later today, so don’t forget to check it!
Hugs,
Megan
