A Spring Wedding at Springfield Manor | Sara + John | March 28, 2026

Sara and John had the outdoor spring wedding of their dreams at Springfield Manor in Thurmont, Maryland, on Saturday. The flowers by Blossom and Basket Boutique looked like a springtime celebration with their vibrant colors, and the trees behind the ceremony site had blossomed that very morning, as if it had been planned! It created one of the most naturally beautiful ceremony sites I’ve ever photographed. Inside the venue, the family brought tree clippings from their blooming trees at home to complement the professional flowers so elegantly. Walking through the space made me smile with the freshness of spring in the air, and I think it gave all of us a little extra bounce in our step.

While I was meeting John and his family for the first time, I was fortunate enough to have photographed several people on Sara’s side in the past. It felt like a little reunion for me, too! A crowd of wonderful people surrounded Sara and John as they read their private vows in that stunning space. It was impossible not to tear up at it all. I think one of the most special touches of the day was Sara’s sister, Becca, officiating. You see, she worked tirelessly for years to bring these two together. She knew that even though John, a colleague, lived in Kansas and Sara in D.C., they were a perfect match. A few serendipitous events eventually brought them together in Maryland, and the rest is history. Sara is very lucky to have such a dedicated sister!

The service from the staff at Springfield Manor was outstanding. The personal touch of their coordinators and staff was refreshing, and it was nicely complemented by the catering team at Lavender Dreams Catering. I had the chicken parmesan and wish I could have it again. I highly recommend them if you’re in the Maryland area! Not only was the food delicious, but the staff was also friendly and welcoming, working with me as a team, which I truly appreciated.
