A Spring Wedding at Philander Chase Knox Estate | Brianna + Colin | May 29, 2026
I thought I was close with my sister and family until I met Brianna, Colin, and theirs. The bond between Brianna, her mom, and her sisters was one of the closest and sweetest I’ve ever seen. It made me want to call my sister to plan a sister day. The whole day was all about family. Every member of the wedding party was family—siblings and even Brianna’s aunt and uncle. I’m glad I took pictures of the girls during the first part of the day, and my second photographer, Scott, photographed Colin’s side because I would have been in tears with his mom all day if I had been there while she pinned his boutonniere and watched him head off to marry the girl of his dreams. There were so many similarities between the Calkins family and mine. Colin is one of four siblings with a big age difference, but that didn’t stop them from forming a bond as close as Brianna and her sisters have. Watching them all together, so close, I couldn’t help but imagine my boys getting married someday. I can only hope they will be as close as Colin, Carter, Conner, and Caden are.
It may have been a small gathering, but that didn’t stop Brianna and Colin from attending to every detail of the day. It was executed perfectly with help from the entire vendor team. The reception at Philander Chase Knox Estate is a permanent tent setup. If it had rained, it still would have been a wonderful day, but we didn’t need to worry because they got the most gorgeous, sunny, warm late-spring day for their wedding. We all reveled in the beauty of the day. The expansive property situated within Valley Forge National Park was breathtaking. There was no shortage of beautiful lighting and portrait spots. Since they didn't do a first look, I appreciated the hour-and-a-half cocktail hour so we could fully enjoy it, and the newlyweds still had time to join in for the end.
The reception was relaxed and enjoyed by all the guests as they lounged on the balcony and mingled around the beautifully decorated tablescapes. There was plenty of delicious food and drinks provided by Robert Ryan Catering, and DJ Dan of Silver Sound Entertainment played all the music for those eager to dance. If you needed to find Brianna, her mom, or her sisters, you could usually find them on the dance floor all evening. It was an honor to be the photographer for this garden-party-inspired wedding day. I wish everyone involved a happy and fulfilling future together. Scroll down to see some highlights from this beautiful wedding day at Philander Chase Knox Estate in Malvern, PA.
Bri and Colin, it’s crazy to think that when I met you at Valley Forge National Park for your engagement session last fall, you weren’t sure about hiring a photographer for the wedding itself. Your wedding day was too special not to be professionally captured, and I’m so glad you changed your mind, allowing my team and me to do it. I really enjoyed planning with you and getting to know you and your families over the past year. I wish you all the best in your future, and I can’t wait to see what it holds! I hope you love this sample of photos from your best day ever. Be sure to check your email later today for a surprise!
Hugs,
Megan
