A Spring Black and White Wedding at Cameron Estate Inn | Laura + Connor | May 24, 2025

As a checklist junkie, I maintain lists for each day of the week leading up to a couple’s wedding day with me. After thoroughly double- and triple-checking gear, settings, and other normal “photographer things,” I sit down with my phone the day before the big day and scroll through everyone’s Instagram feeds with a few things in mind:

  1. To identify the couple’s special people for the day (parents, siblings, and wedding party), so I can recognize some faces when I arrive the next day.

  2. I like to check which photos from their engagement session they posted, if they had one. This gives me some insight into the poses and styles they tend to prefer.

  3. It helps me understand their personalities beyond what I already know about them.

  4. It provides me with a broader perspective of them as individuals, considering all that comes with being human and the real lives they lead beyond their wedding day—everything they have endured to reach this moment tomorrow.

  5. Lastly, I’m reviewing their relationship history. Sure, I’ve probably already asked them about it during their engagement session, but I never get the full story in that brief meeting. So, I like to browse through their Instagram feeds to find “the beginning” of their relationship…the point where I spot the first photo of them together.

The first photo often signifies that they’ve already been spending time together for a while. That initial official photo as a couple on social media is significant. It signals to the world that they are a couple.

When I started scrolling through Laura’s Instagram, it became clear quickly that she and Connor have been together for a while. I kept scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling almost all the way to the end of her grid—to 2016! There was a photo of her and Connor looking like real kids, happy as pie together—Laura’s signature grin on full display. Wow. This wedding has been a long time coming!

When I greeted Connor on Saturday, he was in the middle of having his getting-ready photos taken by my second photographer, Samantha. I poked my head in to let them know I was taking the girls out a little early since they were ready. Connor gave me the biggest hug and took the time to ask how I was. He is such a kind person. I adore him! Since he was so relaxed and obviously ready to marry the love of his life, I asked how long they had been together. It turns out the photo I saw at the beginning of Laura’s grid was just the start of their friendship. They officially began dating a year later, exactly! But not much changed. They’ve been best friends ever since.

Saturday, nine years after the first photo graced Laura’s beautiful Instagram grid, we took their wedding photos. These two are finally married!

Believe it or not, we were rained on several times this day. It was the most unpredictable and unforecasted weather I have ever experienced on a wedding day. It went from blazing sun to total cloud cover to rain and back to sun on a cycle of its own making—and Laura and Connor just rolled with it. On two occasions, Connor picked up Laura and ran for cover! The first time he tossed her over his shoulder. The second, after they were officially married, he scooped her into his arms, and as the rain fell and the winds blasted at them (with me lugging my gear and trying to shoot one-handed behind them), I captured it all. The sun-kissed embraces blended into sultry moments as we hid from sporadic rain showers, waiting for the rain to pass. The saving grace of the day was the perfect weather for their ceremony. As guests arrived, I admit it was a little chilly and windy, but once everyone had gathered down in the hollow by the babbling stream, a higher power parted the clouds and ensured these two had the perfect ceremony.

Dinner was fantastic, and the party featuring the Bachelor Boys Band was unforgettable. Even after all the weddings I’ve photographed at Cameron Estate Inn, this was the first where they could open the doors to the lower level of the Carriage House, allowing guests to venture outside and dance on the cool grass to the beat. We captured so many sunset photos during those moments!

It was a day I’ll surely never forget. The photos below offer a glimpse into this amazing day. Scroll down to take a look. Enjoy and leave the newly married couple well wishes in the comments!

Laura and Connor, first of all, I’m so happy for you! Finding the love of your life and your best friend at such a young age is amazing. You are truly blessed. Laura, the invitations… WOW! You did an incredible job. I had so much fun styling them for your flat lay designs. I know you are an OT genius, but you could have easily pursued a graphic design path and done very well for yourself. Connor, I’m sad I’m not a big sports fan. I genuinely wanted to quiz you on Pitt football trivia to see what everyone was talking about! I hope you two are having the trip of a lifetime on your honeymoon in Portugal. When you get a moment, check out the photos below of the special day that is all yours. And, because I know everyone wants a photo to post, there will be a surprise in your inbox soon. So at some point during your trip, check your email and hit forward for all the Laura and Connor fans out there. 😘 Congratulations!

Xx - Megan
