A Blue Pennsylvania Capitol Maternity Session | Janelle + Dave
Many times I am one of the first people my couples tell they are pregnant. Maybe it is my background as a therapist that draws them to tell me big news like this or maybe it is to get on my schedule early to get a maternity session during the month they want (I like to think it is the former 😜). Most of the time though, I think it’s because while I treat my clients like family and I think of them that way, I’m not so intimately connected with their blood relative family and friends that I might accidentally give the news away too early…and they KNOW I’m going to be excited for them. Like, SO excited!!! No matter the reason, I LOVE IT. I had two more couples tell me they are pregnant before anyone else knows this week and other than being trusted to capture their wedding day, I can’t think of a more special task than to hold this special secret for them.
When Janelle told me they were pregnant, it was weeks after their wedding. How lucky are they, I thought? And then, I thought of Dave’s daughter, Lola. I started imagining how happy she was going to be to be a big sister. Janelle told me that Lola’s biggest wish in life has been to be a big sister one day. They shared the video of them telling her they were pregnant while at the beach a few months ago and she cried tears of joy she was so excited. That makes me so happy.
After their maternity session on Sunday, we hugged goodbye and I gave them well-wishes for a safe delivery. Dave said, “Well, I guess it’s family photos next, huh?!” Yes, Dave.
