Our Red and White Winter Maternity Session at Stone Gables Estate
First, a little note to the one who my heart beats for:
Dear Marc,
This photo is my favorite from our entire maternity session. It is my favorite because it shows just how I feel about you. I could gush on and on about what I love about you and how you are my best friend but my love for you goes much deeper than that. I respect you. I respect the way you lead our family and make decisions that are in our best interest. I respect the way you get up each and every day to go to work to support us. I respect the way you come home each and every day after a long day at work and a long commute, and dive right into spending time with the kids and helping around the house. I respect the fact that even when I have my “not so respectful” moments and get my broom and pointy hat out to ride circles around you complaining of open refrigerator doors and clothes on the ground you absorb it and keep on loving me. I respect the fact that I have 1,001 faults and flaws and you never make me feel less than because of them. You are everything I ever wanted in a husband. Rita is so lucky to have you as her first love and the man she will compare all others to. Thank you for always putting me above all others.

This is it. The last one. 4 children. We are officially a “big” family by today’s standards. With 3 months to go, we decided to go all out with a full maternity session. I wanted to have the full experience my clients have. I wanted to see what everything feels like on the other side. I had been secretly researching local photographers for months. Following. Watching for consistency. Waiting to feel connected with someone. After a time, I became drawn to Juliana Tomlinson. Her work was consistent, beautiful and had the style I love so much. The best part: she is also pregnant! She is 3 weeks farther along than me. For me, it was important for my photographer to have at least been pregnant before. I wanted someone who would know and understand what this amazing milestone truly is to your heart. It is something you don’t know until you have been there.
For Juliana, the road to motherhood was a long and rough one. I was captivated by her story and I HAD to meet her. Luckily, she was still doing full sessions at 29 weeks pregnant and agreed to be our photographer. Juliana was everything I had hoped she would be: professional, kind, sweet, fun and she treated me like any other client. (She also has a super cool accent) I was able to forget everything I know about photography and just be there with my husband, creating a visual representation of our love and the love we have for our children and the sweet anticipation of meeting our newest addition, Little Miss Rita.
We couldn’t be happier with our photos. Thank you so much Juliana! I can’t wait to have a playdate with our little ones in a few months!
My photo experience was completed with a little (lot of) help from my friends:
On makeup: My ever amazing and talented friend, Andrea McCardell of Shades of Blush Studios (a vendor at my own wedding)
On Hair: The girl who tames my mane on a regular basis and I am grateful to call friend, Whitney Burkhart of WB Upstyles
On Florals: because I told her I had always wanted to wear a floral crown, I like the color red and, voila! She made it happen with an exquisite bouquet to match, Stacia, the artist of Petals with Style
Venue: where Marc and I got married and visiting feels like going home; where the people who walk around like cowboys….are actual cowboys who shoe horses and tend the animals; and where hugs are the biggest: Ironstone Ranch/The Star Barn at Stone Gables Estate
